Focus on technologies used in the Endoscopic Unit:

An endoscope is made up of over 600 parts, making it a complex device worthy of watchmaking: the miniaturization of cameras for high-definition or 4K visualization, the slimness of the devices (around 9.5 mm), and the quality of the mechanisms used are all important assets that manufacturers use to differentiate themselves.

Each device has 3 main components:

• High-resolution CCD camera sensor, which enables us to progress inside the human body and see if there are any pathogenic areas of dysplasia ...
• Air/Water channel for cleaning the endoscope tip to improve visibility, washing or blowing air into the patient being operated on.
• A biopsy channel that enables doctors to take biopsies or samples for laboratory analysis, as well as to treat, remove and section tiny cancerous tissues.

The hospital world has also made great strides in cleaning and disinfecting these devices.

Video-endoscopes are combined with an increasingly high-performance video platform (video screen, light source and image processing processor), for the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of digestive pathologies.

These ever more innovative technologies have really come on leaps and bounds in the last 15 years, which is a real advantage for every patient, enabling a much faster return to a normal lifestyle.

The challenge facing the R&D departments of these manufacturers specializing in the development of miniature cameras is to obtain ever-smaller devices with high-resolution imaging. They are also seeking to make interventional procedures less invasive and more comfortable for patients.
