Innovation in cataract surgery in New Caledonia

June 19, 2018 Intermed

Intermed and Alconleaders in cataract surgery innovation, have been supporting New Caledonian ophthalmologists in cataract diagnosis and surgery for many years. Cataract surgery consists in removing the cloudy lens. It is performed under topical anaesthetic, i.e. using anaesthetic eye drops, on an outpatient basis.

This Intermed/Alcon partnership has enabled ophthalmologists at the Ile Nou Magnin clinic to acquire the Centurion for cataract surgery over the past year.

Thanks to Active Fluidics™ Technology, this platform offers surgeons enhanced anterior chamber stability during all stages of surgery, thanks to the maintenance of IOP (Intra Ocular Pressure).

The Balanced Energy™ system optimizes torsional phacoemulsification thanks to innovative software, tips and sleeves.

The Applied Integration™ solution is designed to improve the reproducibility of the results obtained.

The acquisition of the Centurion Vision System from Alcon ensures optimum surgical safety for both surgeon and patient.
