Why install a defibrillator?

Every year, 50,000 people in metropolitan France suffer cardiac arrest. These deaths can be prevented with a few simple gestures and the use of a defibrillator.

There are two types of defibrillator authorized by law for use by the general public. The fully-automatic defibrillator (DA) and the semi-automatic defibrillator (DSA), which requires an action to deliver the electric shock. Both belong to the AED family.

An AED is an Automatic External Defibrillator. In the event of someone else's cardiac arrest, anyone can simply use a defibrillator and save a life!

When someone goes into cardiac arrest, their chances of survival increase if we act quickly, within the first few minutes. Beyond 10 minutes, the chances of survival become very low.

The AED should be used within the first 5 minutes of a cardiac event, hence the need to be equipped. A cardiac accident can happen to anyone at any time (young people, the elderly, athletes, etc.).

Every minute lost represents 10% less chance of survival. That's why we recommend equipping public places with automatic defibrillators.

The FRED PUBLIC ACCESS automatic defibrillator we offer is quick and easy to use. It allows you to react as quickly as possible. The AED switches on automatically when the cover is opened, and dictates the following voice instructions (using the illustrations on the front of the defibrillator) to the user:

  • Call the emergency number indicated on the device
  • Place the electrodes one after the other on the patient's upper body as shown in the diagram.
  • Do not touch patient in case of shock

The unit will tell you when you can perform cardiac massage, and give you the tempo. Cardiac massage is essential to maintain blood flow so that oxygen continues to irrigate the patient's organs.

Together, let's save lives!

Once equipped, remember to check the service life of the electrodes and service your defibrillator regularly to ensure it is always operational.

As a partner, our INTERMED after-sales service team can carry out your defibrillator maintenance.
